Assembly, Annotation, and Comparative Analysis of the Alpaca Whole Genome Sequence

Principal investigator:

Warren E. Johnson, PhD
National Cancer Institute Laboratory of Genomic Diversity

The completion in March 2008, of the whole genome sequence of the alpaca provides an invaluable genetic tool that will facilitate and stimulate research. The objectives of this study are designed to greatly enhance the utility of this sequence by assembling and labeling the sequence and by adding additional landmarks that will help link the alpaca sequence with genome resources and discoveries from other species such as cattle and horses.
